Ex-PM Nawaz names Shahbaz as successor
Former PM Nawaz Sharif named Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz as his successor and nominated ex-oil minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as an interim premier in a defiant speech today.
While addressing PML-N parliamentary party meeting, He said that if you support anyone after me, I ask you to support Shehbaz Sharif. My disqualification was not due to any kind of corruption in the public money.
He said that PML-N will continue to work for the progress and prosperity of the country. He was disqualified for not receiving the salary from his son. He said the salary that was not received from his son was not declared in his assets.
Nawaz Sharif said he was disqualified for not declaring the money that was not received by him. He said he has been paying tax on all his assets and declared assets as and when required.
He said that during his tenure, the major challenges facing the country have been effectively addressed. The defence of the country has been made impregnable and peace restored in the country.
Nawaz Sharif said the backbone of the terrorist has been broken and soon Pakistan will be made terrorism-free country. He said load-shedding has been significantly reduced.
Nawaz Sharif said that rule of law is imperative for putting the country on the path of development. We will have to jointly work for strengthening democracy in the country.
