8 cattle markets to be set up on eid
MULTAN – DCO Zahid Saleem Gondal on Thursday ordered TMAs to select sites within two days to set up eight cattle markets in the city for buying and selling sacrificial animals on Eidul Adha.
No one would be allowed to receive fee or token money at sacrificial animals markets, he said while presiding over a meeting. A private bank would also set up its counter to facilitate buyers and sellers. He said a campaign against adulterators of edible items was in full swing and city would be cleared of these unethical and illegal practices by the commencement of eid.
He said that the district government had recommended establishment of Food Authority in Multan and hoped that it would soon be established to award strict punishments to adulterators. Gondal said Solid Waste Management Company (SWMC) would shift offal and waste to landfill site outside the city during three days of Eidul Azha. He said that section 144 has been imposed against burning of offal to extract fats. DCO also formed committees of officials of labour and industries department to check petrol pumps on daily basis.
Health officials said 229 sites had been declared as sensitive due to dengue mosquito and larva presence. Schools and other official buildings would also be surveyed for application of anti-dengue spray where needed. Gondal ordered removal of encroachment from around the 125-year-old historical clock tower building and build a 30-feet wide road around the structure for its beautification.
