IHC adjourns Awan plea against fine of Rs 500 till September 17
ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday adjourned Dr Babar Awan advocate plea against the verdict of District and Sessions Judge (DSJ) Islamabad Tanvir Mir who imposed Rs.500 as fine on him till September 17.
Justice Noor ul Haq N Qureshi adjourned the appeal against the verdict of DSJ in a Rs 20 billion defamation suit filed by former Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan on the request of an associate of Babar Awan who appeared on his behalf.
He apprised the bench that Babar Awan was busy in another court and requested for a short adjournment which was accepted by the court and fixed the matter on September 17. Earlier, the district and sessions judge (DSJ) imposed a fine of Rs 500 on Babar Awan for not submitting reply in the petition filed by the former chief justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry and subsequently Babar Awan challenged the matter in the IHC.
