PIAF-Founders Alliance wins all LCCI associate class seats
LAHORE – The PIAF-Founders Alliance made another clean sweep by winning all the seven seats of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) associate class for the year 2015-16 paving the way for the alliance to have its president, senior vice president and vice president.
A total of 2309 votes out of 7800 were polled while 41 votes were rejected due to technical reasons. PIAF-Founders Alliance got 1148 panel votes while the rivals Progressive & Lahore Business Front Alliance (PLBFA) secured 658 panel votes.
PIAF-Founders Alliance candidate Nasira Taskeen has already been elected on the one seat reserved for women. PIAF’s candidate Sheikh Muhammad Arshad got 1484, Mian Zahid Javed 1480, Tariq Mahmood 1461, Zahid Maqsood Butt 1470, Syed Mukhtar Ali 1454, Muhammad Najam ur Rehman 1349, Khadim Hussain 1373 while Progressive & Lahore Business Front Alliance candidates Muhammad Amjad Chaudhry got 955, Kalim Ahmed got 796, Mahbood Ahmed 823, Zafar Ahmed 811, Mian Javed Ali 811, Muhammad Ijaz 748, Muhammad Ikram got 732 votes.
Election Commission comprising Shahzad Azam Khan, Haroon Shafiq Chaudhry and Mian Muzaffar Ali announced the provisional results. Polling for the new office-bearers will be held on September 28 and the annual general meeting will be held on September 30, wherein final results of elections will be announced and approval of accounts will be sought. New office-bearers will assume the charge of their offices on October 1.
