Rs 32.16bn being spent on welfare of women: minister
LAHORE – Provincial Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheed ud Din said that a total amount of Rs 32.16 billion was being spent on the welfare of women in different sectors of national reconstruction from development budget during the current financial year.
Addressing the departmental meeting here on Monday, she said that 15 per cent quota had been fixed for women in government jobs and three years’ relaxation in age limit had also been given to them. Moreover, they had been allowed maternity leave and their husbands working in government departments had also been given two months’ leave on the birth of two children, she added.
Hameeda Waheed ud Din said that government was evolving a policy with the cooperation of Chamber of Commerce for providing facilities to the women working in private sector so that 15 per cent quota could also be fixed for women in private sector. She said that government was fully encouraging private sector so that maximum job opportunities could be provided to the women.
