Sale of artificial jewellery picks up
ISLAMABAD – With Eidul Azha approaching fast, a number of stalls of artificial jewellery have been set up in almost all markets of the twin cities, Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Traditionally religious festivals, particularly the two eids, are celebrated by the Muslims, particularly women, by wearing new clothes with jewellery. Fot the purpose, women ireespective of their age, prefer to buy artificial jewellery due to their cheap prices. Shopkeepers and vendors have displyed jewellery of different designs and colours under glittering lights to attract their woman customers. According to vendors, sale of artificial jewellery has also picked up. The rush of women at the stalls selling jewellery after sunset proves this fact.
A vendor at Melody Market said his sale had doubled on eids as compared to normal days. “Every woman wants to buy jewellery matching to their dresses.” Nazia Khan, a housewife, said,”I prefer artificial jewellery because it is inexpensive. Moreover, one can choose among variety of designs available in market.”
