‘China fully prepared to invest in viable projects’
FAISALABAD – A Chinese businessmen delegation visited Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) on Friday to explore investment opportunities in the city.
Head of Chinese delegation Li Pengfie has said that China is fully prepared to invest in viable projects of auto parts, building material, steel mill, mining and energy. Addressing the industrialists and businessmen, Li said that Pakistan-China friendship had become iconic.
He said that the objective of his visit to Pakistan was to personally evaluate the investment opportunities available in Pakistan. “We will discuss and analyze various projects so that immediate work could be started on these,” he said.
He said that during last 60 years China had made tremendous progress only due to the independent trade policies of Chinese government and now China had become a fully developed country. “Our president preferred peace and fully concentrated on the socio-economic development of China. We fully exploited the modern scientific inventions to give a quantum jump to economic development and this is the secret of our progress,” he added.
Li said, “Pakistan and China are time tested friends and now we want to transform this friendship into durable and sustained economic development so that our coming generation can also harvest its fruits.” He said that objective of their visit to Pakistan was to identify projects in which they could immediately start work. He said, “China has expertise in building hydel power plants and we are ready to invest in these projects.”
Chinese investors were in a position to immediately start work on large numbers of projects, said business leader, adding that joint ventures could also be launched in collaboration with dependable companies or firms. He said that FCCI should guide them towards the field in which they could invest for the benefit of the two countries.
Responding to different questions, Li said that after completing the market survey of Pakistan, he would consult his Chinese entrepreneurs and convince them to start various projects immediately. He hoped that Pakistani entrepreneurs would also cooperate with them in this regard.
Earlier, FCCI Vice President Jamil Ahmed introduced Faisalabad and FCCI and said that Faisalabad was the industrial hub of Pakistan with maximum opportunities to start new businesses. He welcomed the Chinese delegation and said that Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company (FIEDMC) had allocated space in M-3 Industrial City for direct foreign investment and hoped that Chinese investors would avail this opportunity. He also offered to sign an MOU for sustained cooperation between the FCCI and Chinese entrepreneurs.
Vice president said that Pakistan and China were tested friends while China had become Pakistan’s largest trading partner with bilateral trade of 11.84 billion dollar with an annual growth of 13 percent. He also welcomed the initiative for the relocation of Chinese textile industry to Pakistan particularly in Faisalabad.
