Dollar ends flat versus rupee

The rupee-greenback’s parity remained unchanged in interbank and open markets on Monday on insignificant demand by corporate sector.

The dollar closed at Rs 104 for buying and Rs 104.20 for selling. It remained unchanged against the rupee. The greenback changed hands at a low of Rs 103.95. The dollar rate differential between kerb and interbank markets remained to 05 paisas on average.

Due to comparatively lesser-than-usual demand of dollar from the corporate sector and lesser demand for imports coupled with central bank’s intervention helped the rupee to stand even, bankers said. The better influx of remittances remained supportive to local currency.

The euro lost Rs 3.20 in the interbank market to close at Rs 114.80 for buying and Rs 115.02 for selling. The pound sterling remained down and closed at Rs 159.50 and Rs 159.81 for buying and selling respectively after shedding Re 1.

Kerb Market: The dollar remained flat against the rupee in the open market after closure flat in interbank, foreign exchange dealers said.
