Six held for carrying weapons in polling stations
LAHORE – The police on Saturday claimed to have arrested six persons for carrying weapons in the territories of polling stations.
Talking to a news agency,Deputy Inspector General Operations Dr Haider Ashraf said that police were taking action against those who were found violating code of conduct issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan. He said that accused Mubeen Ahmad was arrested by Kahna police, Gulzar Hussain by Qila Gujjar Singh, Mubashir Khan by Islampura, Saeed Ahmad by North Cantt, Zubair by Johar Town and Abdul Rasheed by Ghaziabad police over violation of section 144 in the limits of polling stations.
FIRs have also been lodged against the accused, the DIG added. He said that police patrolling were being conducted on all important thoroughfares and near polling stations to ensure peace law and order in the city.
Dr Haider said that walk through gates and metal detectors were installed at polling stations to properly check people.
