Cricket must come back to Pakistan: Najam Sethi
ISLAMABAD : Chief of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and head of the PCB executive committee Najam Sethi has said that international cricket must come back to Pakistan.
He said Pakistan Super League (PSL) would be the most exciting event of the year, if take place in Pakistan, the event would be continued outside untill resuming of international cricket in the country.
During an interview Sethi said the PSL will be the biggest thing that would hit Pakistan cricket.
“We have very realistic expectations with the event. This is our first time and we want it to take off, we’re absolutely confident that PSL would be improved in future,” he added.
To a question about the prices the franchises fetched, sethi said that it were better than our expectations, adding that the incredible thing was that apart from one franchise, all of them bid for all five teams. He said that there would be pressure on us to add another team immediately, but it would not be done as it was the plan to demonstrate incredible success so that the asset value goes up.
“The sixth team we want to sell for much more than the five teams,” he said. “But if we do it next year, we will not get the same sort of money we could get two years down the line. It’s not fixed in yet but PSL’s model has eight teams,” he said.
