Hong Kong shares dip, China trades sideways in thin volumes

HONG KONG :  Hong Kong shares dipped on Wednesday morning, while mainland Chinese shares traded sideways in light volumes on the penultimate session of the year.

Hong Kong’s benchmark Hang Seng Index lost 0.46 percent, or 100.2 points, to 21,899.42 by the break.

The main benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slipped 2.60 points, to 3,561.14, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, rose 0.47 percent, or 10.89 points, to 2,341.25.
