Landmark Group to cut ties with Donald Trump over anti-Muslim rhetoric
One of the biggest Middle East’s retail firms is ready to cut ties with Donald Trump after his controversial statement against Muslims.
One gigantic property holders stated that they will stand by Trump; however the other immense corporation will halt hauling his home décor lines.
Landmark Group, headquartered in Dubai, is the parent corporation of popular Middle Eastern home decor brand Lifestyle.
The company told the news agency that they will no longer carry Trump Organization home décor products.
“In light of the recent statements made by the presidential candidate in United States media, we have suspended sale of all products from the Trump Home Décor range,” Lifestyle CEO Sachin Mundhwa said.
The Landmark Group spokesperson would not offer further comments on how much the decision would cost the company or how any business interests would be affected.
Whereas other Muslim Eastern business enormous are split on whether Trump’s anti-Muslim rhetoric will affect their business with the Republican presidential hopeful.
One major Muslim-owned business giant is standing by its business with Mr. Trump.
Dubai-headquartered Damac Properties, which bills itself as the “largest private developer of luxury real estate in the Middle East,” penned an agreement with Mr Trump in May 2013 to function the rambling 7,205-yard Trump International Golf Club in Dubai.
“We would like to stress that our agreement is with the Trump Organisation as one of the premium golf course operators in the world,” Damac Properties senior vice president Niall McLoughlin said in an email. “As such we would not comment further on Mr. Trump’s personal or political agenda, nor comment on the internal American political debate scene.”
Distancing the company from Mr Trump anti-Muslim sentiments, the politics will not affect their partnership. Whereas Damac corporate publications did not exposed how much the deal was worth.
On Monday, Mr.Trump made an anti- Muslim rhetoric statement in media and called to ban Muslims from entering the country after an attack by ISIS adherents who killed 14 people last week in San Bernadino, California.
Trump calls for ‘total and complete shutdown’ of borders to Muslims and cited an unstipulated Pew Research poll that he said showed “there is great hatred towards Americans by large segments of the Muslim population,” a press release from his campaigners said.
