Over 12,000 employees inducted in MCB since its privatisation
KARACHI: “The number of employees working in MCB Bank has increased from 8,000 to 20,000; assets and deposits have grown by 20 times; and it has contributed over Rs 100 billion to the national exchequer on account of taxes since its privatisation,” said MCB Staff Union (CBA) President Riafat Khan Jadoon along with General Secretary Shafiq Khan Ladla.
He said the bank since its privatisation has achieved many milestones and unprecedented successes, which is a testimony of workers’ hard work. “The bank also shared its success by sharing profit and increasing basic salary by 120% in last 10 years, which is in addition to many other benefits and salary raise in the past. The bank has also ensured many fringe benefits and we will not allow anybody to harm our source of income. Our prosperity is directly dependent on the progress of the bank,” he added.
With hard work of the employees, he said the bank has been assigned the best rating among all domestic banks by reputable foreign and local rating agencies. Its profitability has increased by 170 times after privatisation, which makes us proud for being an important part of the overall success.
He said that it is strange to see a media campaign against the bank’s privatisation after 24 years. “Senator Saeed Ghani is taking advantage of his seat in the senate while achieving personal agenda against MCB Bank, which is hurting the bank’s employees as they are stressing out due to uncertainty of their future,” Jadoon added.
He said that the workers are being mentally tortured by the campaign against the bank and they are uncertain about their future and keep on asking us the same.
“We urge Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani to take the notice of such a person who is playing with the jobs of the thousands of employees for personal gains,” he added.
