Strategy in place to make PSO profit-earning entity: NA told
ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary Secretary for Industries and Production Rao Ajmal Thursday said the government was making all-out efforts to transform the Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) into aprofit-earning entity.
“We are making efforts to steer out the PSO from losses and moving in right direction,” he said during the question-hour.
However, he regretted that whenever government takes required steps to remove the flaws, some elements come out and create hurdles in it way.
PSM, he said, was continuously running in loss for last several years and salaries of employees were paid with the financial assistance of the government.
To a question, he said Economic Coordination Committee (ECO) had time and again approved disbursement of salaries to the employees.
The salaries for two months, August and September, 2015, had recently been approved by the ECC and would be paid soon after issuing of its sanction.
To another question, the Parliamentary Secretary said seven cases of corruption in PSM were pending with the National Accountability Bureau, which were sent to the Bureau in 2013.
