ISLAMABAD: Focal Person for TAPI Project Syed Touqeer Hussain Monday said that Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project would help Pakistan to overcome energy crisis.
Talking in a Radio Pakistan’s program, he said that the project would be helpful to meet needs of energy sectors of the country.
He said electricity would be produced by using this gas in power generation projects, adding that Pakistan would be able to import 1325 mmcfd natural gas from Turkmenistan.
Syed Touqeer Hussain said that Pakistan would get this gas without paying transit fee.
This project was expected to complete in 2018, he added.
“We are also importing Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from Qatar as well as the work on Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline will soon be initiated,” he said.
