'Decline in prices of petroleum products to be passed on to public'

ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary Secretary on Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahzadi Umerzadi Tiwana Tuesday said decrease in the prices of petroleum products in International market would be passed on to public in the end of this month.

Responding to a calling attention notice in National Assembly, she said the prices of oil are on lowest level in Pakistan as compared to other countries of the region including India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

The actual price of petrol is Rs. 51.94 per liter which comes to Rs. 76.25 with imposition of custom duty, GST and levy taxes, she informed the House.

She said the oil prices were increased in last month in International market but it was not passed on to general public to benefit them.

Tiwana said Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources was responsible to notify the prices of petroleum products, however, it was the duty of provinces to control the prices of eatable and other items in their respective regions to pass on the benefit to masses.
