Dollar closes flat versus rupee
KARACHI: The greenback closed flat against the domestic unit in interbank market on Monday on insignificant demand from importers.
During the trading, dollar remained flat at Rs 104.50 for buying and closed at Rs 104.70 for selling. The dollar changed hands at a low of Rs 104.47, while rate differential between kerb and interbank markets remained 70 paisas on average. The euro shed 84 paisas in the interbank market to close at Rs 113.01 for buying and Rs 113.23 for selling. The pound sterling remained firm and closed at Rs 149.50 and Rs 149.79 for buying and selling respectively after gaining 26 paisas.
Kerb Market: The dollar remained firm against the rupee in the open market after closure flat in interbank, foreign exchange dealers said. The US dollar closed at Rs 106.50 for buying and Rs 106.70 for selling. It gained 25 paisas in the open market against the rupee comparing previous trading.
The demand and supply of dollar in the open market remained moderate as the demand from private sector’s buyers witnessed improvement regarding to previous trading. The pound sterling closed at Rs 152.50 for buying and Rs 153.20 for selling, it closed flat against the rupee while the euro closed down at Rs 115.50 for buying and Rs 116 for selling. It remained down by 25 paisas on dull demand in the kerb.
