Football export increases by 2.8% in five months
ISLAMABAD: The export of footballs from the country increased by 2.84% during the first five months of current fiscal year (2015-16).
A total of 1,427,000 dozens footballs worth of $65.116 million were exported during July-November (2015-16) as compared to the export of 1,192,000 footballs worth $63.319 million during same period of last year.
The exports of gloves however decreased by 11.79% during July-November 2015-16 as the export went down from $37.519 million to $41.944 million, a data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) revealed on Sunday. A total of 896,000 dozens gloves were exported in the period under review as compared to 1,243,000 dozens in same period of last year.
On year-on-year basis, the export of football in November 2015 increased by 2.46% as compared to same month of last year. During the period, 310,000 dozens footballs worth $12.052 million were exported as compared to the export of 226,000 dozens footballs worth $11.763 million during November 2014. However, on month-on-month basis, the footballs export went down by 12.68% as 338,000 footballs valuing $13.802 million were exported in October 2015.
Similarly, the gloves export in November 2015 increased by 88% and 4.03% when compared with the export during November 2014 and October 2015 respectively.
The gloves export increased from 108 dozens worth of $4.2 million and 145,000 dozens valuing $7.59 million in October 2015 to 149,000 dozens worth of $7.896 million in November 2015.
The overall sports goods export down by 3.17% from $127.071% in July-November (2014-15) to $123.04 million this year. On year-on-year basis, the sports goods exports increased by 8.7% from $21.188 million in November 2014 to $23.032 million in November 2015 while the exports on month-on-month basis decreased by 10.14% as the exports during October 2015 were recorded at $25.632 million.
