JICA to continue support for promotion of agriculture sector in Pakistan
Islamabad: The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will continue to support and cooperate for the promotion of agriculture sector in Pakistan.
This was said by JICA-Pakistan Chief Representative Mitsuyoshi Kawasaki while speaking at a certificate distribution ceremony of a “Capacity Development Programme of Agriculture Extension Services of Khyber- Pakhtunkhwa” held here in Islamabad, said a press release issued here on Friday.
PARC Chairman Dr Nadeem Amjad acknowledged the support JICA for various development projects in Pakistan including the establishment of Plant Genetic Resources Institute (PGRI).
Dr Amjad said that the project of capacity development of agriculture extension services in K-P was started in January 2015 as a joint ventur of PARC, JICA and the K-P Department of Agriculture Extension and 100 officers of different agriculture departments were trained about new knowledge and practical skill.
He said that the new knowledge would improve farm productivity, employment generation, mitigating environmental degradation, and uplifting socio-economic conditions of rural masses of K-P.
