PARC develop 10 hybrids of 4 crops to increase production : NA informed

ISLAMABAD : Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) has developed ten hybrids of maize, sunflower, canola and fodder to increase production of these crops.

Parliamentary Secretary for National Food Security and Research Rajab Ali Baloch told the National Assembly during question hour today that efforts are underway to develop rice and cotton hybrids.

To a question, Rajab Ali Baloch said National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC) has developed a bio-radiation model for waste water treatment for irrigation. He pointed out this technology reduces water related and water borne crop diseases and damage to national bio-diversity.

Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi told the House that the government is trying hard to make the recovery of electricity bills pending against the consumers.

Answering a question, he said so far about 30 small dams have been built in different provinces. Parliamentary Secretary for Industries and Production Rao Ajmal said Pakistan Steel is closed due to non-supply of gas. He hoped that gas supply will be restored next month.

Responding to a call attention regarding non-payment of dues to the affectees of Kuwait-Iraq war 1992, Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Pir Saddaruddin Rashdi said the payment has been made to all those affectees whose claims were approved by the UN. He said over 17 billion rupees were given to the affectees in this regard.
