PIAF hails power tariff reduction
LAHORE: Pakistan Industrial and Traders Association Front (PIAF) Chairman Irfan Iqbal Shaikh hailed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s announcement for reducing Rs 3 per unit in power tariff for industrial units.
He said the prime minister’s road plan will reduce energy shortage and problems faced by the business community and it will help the industrial sector to achieve its production targets.
He stressed that the prime minister should announce reduction in gas tariff for industries too. “Because of high tariffs, Pakistan is losing international markets and India and Bangladesh are completing Pakistan due to lower rate of electricity and gas in their countries,” he said.
The PIAF chairman said higher electricity and gas prices are causing higher industrial production cost, resulting in decline of exports while other regional countries are boosting their exports.
Irfan Iqbal Shaikh said that Pakistan’s initiative in TAPI project could bring revolution in our industries and regional cooperation. TAPI project will lower gas prices in Pakistan and will cause revival of dying industries, he added.
