World reposes confidence in Pak economy: Tehmina Janjua

GENEVA: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif’s visit to represent Pakistan at World Economic Forum got a very positive response.

This was stated by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva Tehmina Janjua while commenting on the prime minister’s visit to Switzerland to attend the World Economic Forum meeting.

She said the international business community endorsed the incumbent government’s policies to turn around the national economy.

She said leading investors and business leaders conveyed their confidence in the policies of the government. These policies have brought the country out of serious economic difficulties.

On January 22 attending World Economic Forum in Davos, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan today is fast heading towards a promising and prosperous future.

Giving a talk on “Regions in Transformation – South Asia”, The Prime Minister said government has successfully addressed the challenges of terrorism, energy shortages and economic revival.

He said Pakistan has paid heavy price in the fight against terrorism in term of loss of life and property.

He said that due to successful Operation Zarb-e-Azb, the terrorists are now on the run and are striking soft targets.

Nawaz Sharif said the country’s GDP growth rate was 3 percent, now it was 4.2 percent and hopefully it would cross 5 per cent rate.

The Prime Minister apprised the entrepreneurs about the business and investment friendly policies of the government.
