YouTube to be unblocked in Pakistan
KARACHI: Spokesman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Monday said YouTube to unbanned across Pakistan within 48 hours as YouTube has launched a localised version for Pakistan.
The Pakistani version of You Tube does not carry offensive content regarding Muslims.
Due to blasphemous content YouTube was blocked in Pakistan since by the Supreme Court in 2012.
Earlier, PTA filed petition in Supreme Court (SC) that requests formal removal of ban on YouTube and submitted that it had put a nationwide ban on YouTube in light of the apex court’s order. The petition claimed that blasphemous content would removed from localised version of YouTube if ever uploaded again. However, Google has now removed those objectionable videos.
