PPP, PTI call for NA session to discuss petroleum prices, PIA privatization
ISLAMABAD: Opposition parties, including Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), on Tuesday agreed to requisition a session of the National Assembly to discuss issues pertaining to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) privatisation and prices of petroleum products.
The agreement in this regard was reached in a meeting between PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi met Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah at the latter’s residence here.
The leaders discussed the prevailing political situation in the country. They viewed that the recent reduction in petroleum prices was a ‘joke’ with the nation.
It may be added that the government on February 1 slashed prices of petroleum products by Rs 5 per litre which does not commensurate with decline in oil prices in the international market.
