Sale of cigarette banned in ICT without license
ISLAMABAD : The District Administration has banned sale of cigarettes in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) without license.
The decision has been taken in a bid to make the federal capital a smoking free zone. District Administration warned of shopkeepers of jail term in case of violation and will be fined Rs 50,000 along with three days in prison.
The administration would issue licenses to more than 1,700 shopkeepers, they will have to pay Rs.2, 000 every year for it and will also regulate the sale of cigarettes and other products.
At least 50 shop owners have acquired licenses in this regard and sale of imported cigarettes has been banned irrespective of any license issued by the administration.
