Intra-Kashmir trade between Muzaffarabad and Srinagar remains suspended
MUZAFFARABAD: The Intra-Kashmir trade between Muzaffarabad and Srinagar has not yet been restored amidst the differences prevailing between the traders of the divided state of Jammu Kashmir.
Several loaded trucks were stopped on their way to Srinagar at the Line of Control at Chikothi. The traders from Azad Jammu Kashmir and the Indian-held Jammu Kashmir had previously decided to restore Intra-Kashmir trade from Tuesday and commercial trucks had, hence, reached on both sides of the Line of Control.
However, the trade could not still be restored because of the differences between the traders. While some traders believed that in the wake of the ongoing tension in the other part of the valley, now was not a proper time to continue trade, others favoured the initiative. No decision has yet been taken to restore the intra-Kashmir trade between the traders.
