Long Awaited Gas-Supply Schemes in Balochistan to Begin
ISLAMABAD: Long awaited gas supply schemes in various districts of Balochistan have grabbed the attention of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) which would provide natural gas connections in 14 new localities of two districts of the province during the current financial year, official source in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources disclosed.
The company has planned to supply gas to 14 localities of two districts, Qila Abdullah and Jaffarabad of Balochistan, during the fiscal year 2016-17 under the Millennium Development Goals’ (MDGs) Community Development Programme.
The company would provide gas in seven localities of district Qila Abdullah comprising Enayatullah Karez, Rojhan Jamali, Ghareeb Abad Jamali, Usta Mohammad, Manjhi Khan Jamali, Mohabat Shakh, Khair Mohammad Laghari, Jalal Shakh and Dad Mohammad, Nawara Kirthar Shakh and Ghulam Hussain Khosa, beside seven other localities of district Jaffarabad, including Mohallah H Mukhtiar Khan Jamali, Moumtaz Ali Sobdrani Jamali, Ali Hussain Magsi Mohabat Shakh, Saifullah Jamali-Bilawal K Jamali-Mohabat Shakh, Lal Khan Wadhani Khosa, Juma Khan Rind Gandakha and Ghulam Hussain Rind A Fatah Rind Mohabat Shakh.
Moreover, the gas supply schemes would be completed by June 2017, for which Rs 547.505 million had been allocated.
It is pertinent to mention that the government had imposed a ban on the provision of gas to newly developed areas in the country since April 2011 due to shortage of the commodity. However, village gasification for the gas producing districts exempted by the ban.
Both Sui Southern Gas Company Limited and Sui Northern Gas Company Limited had carried out surveys in the respective areas for providing gas to the villages falling within five radiuses of the gas fields. Accordingly, a summary has been submitted to the Council of Common Interests for consideration.
