Government issues legal notice to Hamza Ali Abbasi for spreading rumors
LAHORE: Well known actor Hamza Ali Abbasi recently received a legal notice from the government. The prosecution notice issued by the government of Punjab which reveals that the Facebook post by the well-known actor is false and is equivalent of spreading propaganda against the provincial government through a social media portal.
On Wednesday, in response to the notice by Punjab government, the Mann Mayal actor defended his Facebook post about the supposed abduction of children in Punjab, saying that his message was based on news reports of well-reputed media outlets and were not false. He also shared some links and news of media related to the abduction of children in Punjab.
“Being a common man, I get my news and facts from News Channels and Newspaper articles,” he wrote.
“If above mentioned information is wrong, then instead of sending notices to these media outlets from which Pakistanis get their information from, they sent me a notice showing the clear intention of this Dictatorial Government to take down any popular voice against them,” Abbasi wrote on his Facebook page.
“P.S: Jamhooriyat Mubarak Ho,” Hamza concluded.
The notice was sent to the actor from Punjab prosecution department about his “dangerous rumors about the abduction of children.” Said Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah.
“Strict action can be taken against Hamza Ali Abbasi if we don’t find his response satisfactory,” he warned.
However, Hamza defended his facebook post with such facts and statements which cannot be ignored.
Hamza Ali Abbasi has always been involved in social activities which usually leads him into trouble as the way of expressing is very straightforward.
On July 19, Facebook removed Hamza’s post in which he praised the slain Kashmiri rebel Burhan Wani. His post was about Kashmir in which he compared Kashmir’s situation with Palestine. Later on Facebook apologized to him for removing the post “mistakenly”
