One more Congo virus affectee dies in Quetta
QUETTA: Another Patient of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) virus has died in Fatima Jinnah Hospital, Quetta raising death toll to 15.
Focal Person on CCHF Ghulam Abbas has said that the deceased RehmatUllah was admitted in the hospital 10 days before after he was infected by Congo virus.
He said three other Congo virus patients have been admitted in the hospital while one of them is in critical condition.
He further said at least 10 Congo virus patients have died in current year in Quetta while five other patients have died across the country.
Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is a viral disease that spreads through tick bite.
The disease is more common in Africa, Asia, East Europe and the Middle East. The virus infects wild as well as domestic animals like sheep and cattle through tick bites.
Humans are infected when they come in direct contact with blood or tissues from infected animals or bites of infected ticks.
