PSL spot-fixing scandal: PCB suspends Irfan


KARACHI: Fast bowler Mohammad Irfan has been suspended by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for violating the its anti-corruption code during the Pakistan Super League 2017.

According to the statement, the pacer was issued a Notice of Charge under the PCB’s anti-corruption code.

PCB spokesperson said that Irfan has been charged with two violations of Code Article 2.4.4 and now has 14 days to respond to the Notice of Charge, which is a result of failure to disclose details of any approach to engage in corrupt practices.

Earlier, Irfan had appeared before the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) where he admitted to have been approached by bookies during the event. Irfan said he had not informed the PCB as he had been under mental duress.

Nasir Jamshed was suspended from all forms of cricket for his alleged involvement in the controversy.

Pakistan Cricket Board had said in a statement that Jamshed will remain suspended from all forms of cricket for violation of its anti-corruption code.
