Senate passes military courts’ extension bill
ISLAMABAD: Senate on Tuesday has approved 28th Amendment Bill 2017 over extension of military courts for two years after two-third majority votes came in its favour.
Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani presided over a session of the House today where 78 votes came in favour of the Amendment bill while three opposed it.
The bill was tabled today in the Senate after it was approved by the National Assembly two weeks ago. The bill will become an Act of Parliament after the President’s signature.
After the approving by President Mamnoon Hussain, the bill will become an Act of the Parliament making two-year extension of army courts official. The extension will be recorded starting from January 7, 2017.
