Suicide bomber targets census team in Lahore, claims six lives
LAHORE: Suicide bombing targeted a census team on Bedian Road on Wednesday morning. At least 6 persons were martyred including 4 security personnel and two civilians and 22 other are injured in the suicide attack.
Security sources claimed that it was a suicide attack in which census team and army men were targeted.
Earlier, it was being reported as a CNG cylinder explosion inside a vehicle.
According to Security sources, “The attack was carried out by a suicide bomber, but it is unclear if the bomber carried out the attack on foot or riding a motorcycle.”
Rescue teams reached the site soon after the incident was reported, while security personnel cordoned off the area.
Pakistan Army, police and rescue teams have reached the spot after the blast, while injured have been shifted to nearby hospital where they are being treated.
Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah talking to a news channel said that the blast occurred despite the high alert, adding that causalities could increase in the incident.
Sanaullah added that banned Jamaat-ul-Ahrar has been claiming responsibility of the terrorist attack in Lahore.
