Hindu community celebrates Diwali
KARACHI: The Hindu community in the city, like all over in the world will celebrate their annual celebration of lights festival, Diwali today.
The Hindus will mark this festival by lighting lamps and distributing sweets.
All the temples in the city will organize special prayer congregations on the eve and the main ceremony will be held at the Swami Narayan Temple, opposite to the old KMC head office, on M. A. Jinnah Road in the evening.
For most Hindus, Diwali marks the return of deities, Rama and Sita to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile. To celebrate their return, villagers lighted oil lamps that illuminated the path in the darkness
The significance of the festival may carry nuanced differences according to region and within the traditions of Hinduism. However, despite all the differences, a common symbolism remains – it’s an important occasion that marks the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil.
