CJP takes Suo Motu of Naqeebullah alleged Police encounter
Islamabad (Web Desk): Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar Friday took suo moto notice of the killing of 27-year old Naqeebullah Mehsud in an alleged police encounter in Karachi.
The Chief Justice asked Sindh Police chief A.D.khawaja to submit the report of extra judicial killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud within seven days.
Earlier today, SSP Malir Rao Anwar appeared before the committee headed by IG CTD Sanaullah Abbasi along side with DIG South Azad Khan and DIG East Sultan Khawaja.
SSP Rao Anwar has refuted the news making rounds on the social media that Naqeebullah Mehsud in an alleged police encounter in Karachi.
Relatives of Naqeeb told media that he was picked up by plain-clothes officials from Gul Sher Agha Hotel in Sohrab Goth on January 3 and then murdered in an extrajudicial encounter.
Naseemullah had arrived in Karachi a year ago and was running a garment shop at Al-Asif Square in Sohrab Goth, the relatives informed media.
Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Sial ordered an inquiry into the “encounter” after public outrage on social media.
The Sindh government set up a three member committee headed by headed by Additional IG CTD Sanaullah Abbasi and comprising DIG East Sultan Khawaja and DIG South Azad Khan to probe the matter.
Naqeebullah was allegedly among the four suspects killed in an ‘encounter’ with a police team headed by Rao Anwar on outskirts of Karachi.
Social media burst into an outcry against the killing of Naqeeb in the staged encounter. A protest was also staged outside Karachi Press Club to condemn the killing, calling for justice for the victim’s family.
