Shehbaz Sharif appears before NAB over Ashiana Housing Scandal
Lahore (Web Desk): Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif arrived at National Accountability Court (NAB) in connection with an inquiry into alleged irregularities in the Ashiana Housing Scheme.
A notice dispatched on 17-January by the NAB Lahore Director General Saleem Shahbaz to the CM’s residence at 96-H Model Town and office at 7-Club Road.
According to the notice sent by NAB, despite successful biding of Chaudhry Latif and Sons for Ashyiana Iqbal Housing Society, on the orders of the CM Punjab cancelling the agreement contract was given to sub unit of Paragon’s Sada Developers that caused the loss of one hundred and 93 million rupees.
CM Punjab also used his powers illegally ordered the PLDC to award the contract of Ashiyana project through Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to Paragon City that caused the loss of 700 million rupees to national exchequer and failure of project.
Ashiana Housing Scheme was an initiative of the Punjab government to provide economical residential facilities to the people with low-incomes.
Shehbaz Sharif is also expected to hold a news conference later today.
