Zainab murder case: Accused ‘Imran Ali’ on 14-day Police remand
Lahore (Web Desk): The accused of Zainab rape and murder, Imran Ali has been sent on a 14-day physical remand by an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore on Wednesday.
Police have produced the accused, Muhammad Imran, before the ATC amid stern security measures.
ATC judge Sajjad Ali, however, granted a 14-day physical remand of the accused man. Imran will be presented before the court again on February 8, 2018.
After the submission of inquiry report in ATC regarding accused the formal hearing will get started.
Chief Justice of Lahore High Court (LHC) Mansoor Ali Shah has ordered a daily hearing of eight-year-old Zainab’s rape and murder case for which the first hearing, conducted by Judge Sheikh Sajjad today.
Zainab was kidnapped from near her aunt’s house on January 4 in Kasur. Her body was recovered from a garbage heap on January 9. The post-mortem of the minor revealed that she had been raped before being murdered.
Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday evening confirmed that the arrested accused, Imran, is the murderer of the seven-year-old Zainab and referred to him as a “serial killer”.
“Zainab’s murderer has been caught. His name is Mohammad Imran. He is a 24-year-old resident of Kasur, he is a serial killer,” Shehbaz told a press conference.
