Chinese national shot dead in Karachi
Karachi (Web Desk): A Chinese national was shot dead in Defence neighborhood on Monday when unknown suspects opened fire at his car, Police reported.
DIG South Azad Khan said it was a targeted killing as Chinese national was shot after being followed by armed attackers.
A bystander identified as Hassan Abbas was aslo injured in the incident.
According to Police4, The Chinese national was an employee at a shipping firm in Karachi, however the he was not accompanied by security at the time of the incident.
“It appears to be a targeted incident,” police said. Nine bullet casings were recovered from the site of the attack.
The injured were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where Dr Seemin Jamali confirmed that the Chinese national had received a head injury and was in a critical condition. She later said that the man died during treatment.
Security has been beefed up for foreigners, particularly Chinese nationals across the province.
Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal and Inspector General Police Sindh took notice of the incident and have sought a report from District South Police Chief DIG Azad Khan and SSP South.
The location of the attack is a few hundred meters away from the Driving License office and less than a kilometre away from the area’s police station.
