Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani, wife laid to rest


Karachi (Web Desk): The funeral prayer of Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Provincial Minister Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani was offered today in his ancestral village in Kurrampur, Kashmore.

The body of influential tribal figure was earlier shifted to Sukkur airport from Karachi via helicopter, from where the corpse was brought to his ancestral village in the form of procession.

The bodies of Sindh Planning and Development Minister Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani and his wife were found under mysterious circumstances at their residence in Karachi.

On the other hand, the funeral prayers of Fariha Razak Haroon took place in Karachi’s Sultan Masjid.

Bijarani and his wife, Fariha were found dead Thursday at their residence in the city’s Defence locality.

Bijarani is stated to have received one bullet wound to the head whereas his wife was shot thrice.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Peoples Party has announced three-day mourning period over the minister’s death and has suspended all activities.

According to Sindh IG Allah Dino Khawaja, all the evidence has been collected. He said he will disclose the details shortly.

Bijarani was born on 1 July, 1946 in the Karampur, district Kashmore. He completed his Bachelors from National College Karachi, and LLB from Sindh Muslim Law College and Masters in Political Science.

He was elected in 2013 from PS-16 Jacobabad on PPP ticket.The veteran politician had served as MPA, MNA and Senator and was affiliated with the PPP since 70s.

Bijrani was an influential tribal figure in north Sindh. He was elected to the provincial assembly first in 1974 on PPP ticket. He was also elected in 1977 and 2013, besides serving as the party president Sindh chapter from 1986 to 1990.

He became member of National Assembly for the first time in 1990. He also held the portfolio of Sindh’s Education Minister.
