PHC granted bail to 25 convicts in Mashal lynching Case

Abbottabad (Web Desk): The Peshawar High Court’s (PHC) Abbottabad circuit bench on Tuesday suspended the three-year jail terms sentenced to 25 suspects in the Mashal Khan lynching case during a hearing.

Mashal Khan was a student mass communication at Mardan’s Abdul Wali Khan University, on an account of falsely accused he was lynched to death by a mob of angry students on 13th April 2017 over rumors that he and his friends committed blasphemy.

The lynching took place within the premises of the university and was caught on video which went viral.

A two-member bench announced the conclusion on the petition filed by the suspects who had been sentenced to three years in prison by Haripur Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) earlier this month (February)

The bench comprising Justice Atiq Shah and Justice Lal Jan while hearing appeals next to the verdict filed by those convicted, today suspended the punishments sentenced to the 25 Convicts and ordered their release from jail on bail.
