Veteran actor Qazi Wajid passes away
Karachi (Web Desk): Legendary television and radio artist Qazi Wajid passed away on Sunday.
Sources said the 87-year-old veteran actor was admitted to a hospital on Saturday after his health deteriorated.
Qazi was one of the pioneers in the radio industry of Pakistan. After 25 years on radio, he resigned and performed as an actor.
Qazi Wajid’s first interaction with TV and camera was in Karachi’s expo centre during an exhibition. After which his relationship with television became eternal, for he holds a record of acting in the most number of plays in Karachi, while in Lahore it is Qavi Khan who leads the list.
He was part of many memorable TV dramas including Tanhaiyan, Dhoop Kinaray, Khuda Ki Basti and Taleem-e-Baligha’n.
Other than working for PTV, Qazi Wajid has worked for numerous private productions; however, he laments the lack of plays produced by PTV, for he deems it to be an academy that has a lot to offer.
His wife and daughter Fazila Wajid are both associated with the entertainment industry.
