Milk to be sold on Rs.94 per liter in Karachi
Karachi ( Web Desk): Karachi: The prices of milk in the city were fixed at Rs 94 per liter after the issues were settled between Dairy farms, administration and retailers.
Commissioner Karachi Ejaz Ahmed Khan presented in court while hearing the case of setting up milk rates in Sindh High Court. Milk price is set at Rs.94 along with the signature of all stake holders from the city.
However, the court ordered to apply the new price after the start of next month.
During the hearing, Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi said the new price cannot be readily applied as concerns of people from low-income backgrounds should not be overlooked.
The price of milk went up from Rs85 to Rs100 per litre, following a dispute between retailers and wholesalers.
During the hearing, Justice Aqil Abbasi remarked that we should not ignore the poor, milk is basic necessity, people do not have food, you are discussing here what will happen to the poor? It is not possible that we should direct the Sindh government to intervene.
Later Sindh High Court directed commissioner to issue notification of milk value to Karachi and also ordered that milk would be sold at Rs 85 per liter till the end of this month and new prices will be applied after April 1.
