Naqeebullah murder case: SC orders Rao Anwar’s arrest
ISLAMABAD (Web desk) : The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered the Sindh police to arrest ex-Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rao Anwar who was wanted in the Naqeebullah Mehsud murder case.
During today’s hearing, the three-judge bench headed by CJP Mian Saqib Nisar rejected Rao Anwar to give him protective bail.
According to initial reports, Anwar reached the court suspiciously. Security was beefed up around the court’s premises and a cordon was thrown around the entrance.
Anwar, was absconding in the murder case of Mehsud who was killed in a alleged police encounter in Karachi on Anwar’s orders.
Appearing before the bench, Anwar’s counsel sought protective bail from the court but the chief justice dismissed the plea and gave orders for his arrest.
Chief Justice Nisar expressed dismay at Anwar’s continuous absconding in the case despite repeated summons by the apex court. During the hearing, the chief justice also said a committee is being formed to probe the case.
