Not issuing Rs 10,000 denomination banknotes, declares SBP

State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Friday refuted rumors circulating on the social media regarding the issuance of a Rs 10,000 banknote.

Karachi (Web Desk) : State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Friday refuted rumors circulating on the social media regarding the issuance of a Rs 10,000 banknote.

A fake PKR 10,000 currency note is circulating over the internet. The news is spreading that State Bank of Pakistan has issued Rs 10,000 currency note but it is fake news with zero authenticity.

Similar news came two years ago that State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is issuing Rs 10,000 bank note but SBP denied the news. State Bank of Pakistan firmly said that they have no plans of issuing any higher banknote as the seven denominations of already present banknotes meet the business and transactional needs of the country.

“The general public is advised to not pay heed to such rumors and check the authenticity of any news item related to banknotes on the SBP website and its social media accounts,” said the press release.

The SBP formally launched its official Facebook page earlier today.

Governor SBP Tariq Bajwa in his message hoped that steady growth being made in communication tools would help SBP to keep itself side by side with modern means of communication and cooperate with its stakeholders.
