Rao Anwar’s facilitators have to answer SC, Says CJP

Islamabad (Web Desk) : The Supreme Court has warned that anyone found facilitating suspended Malir SSP Rao Anwar, wanted in the Naqeebullah Mehsud killing case, will be held accountable.

The three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar began hearing the suo motu case Monday morning.

During the hearing, CJP stated, “if Anwar surrenders he will be protected”.

Chief Justice Nisar remarked during the hearing that strict action would be taken against those found facilitating Anwar’s bid to escape the country or giving him shelter.

Sindh Inspector General of Police AD Khwaja told the court that Anwar was provided with a boarding pass of a private airline.

Meanwhile, State Bank of Pakistan Governor Tariq Bajwa informed the bench that Anwar possessed two banks accounts, both of which have been frozen. “Anwar receives his salary in the same accounts but will be unable to withdraw it,” Bajwa informed the bench.

At the last hearing of the case on Friday, the court had given the Sindh police chief two more days to arrest Anwar.
